A Research on Cultural Barriers of Foreign Managers in Upscale Hotels of China
Abstract：Due to the rapid development of economic globalization, China's economy is rising day by day, attracting a large number of high-end foreign hotels, and many foreign high-end hotel managers are rooted in China. However, these foreign managers have encountered various cultural barriers in China because of the different cultural backgrounds in different countries and regions, such as language barriers, differences in values between Chinese and western workers, and differences in Chinese and Western hotel culture, etc. By exploring discovering and interviewing, understood situations of foreign managers in China and some suggestions have been offered.

Most multinational organizations and companies are looking for leaders who can travel freely and effectively in different countries and cultures. These people are able to accept assignments, understand disparate markets, and successfully manage diverse teams. But where do companies go looking for such people? People like this are really few. Everyone is working or studying in foreign countries will encounter some obstacles, However, with the time goes by, the accumulation of experience, they are able to achieve a higher level of cross-cultural things. Since the reform and opening up, with the economic development of our country and the relocation of foreign high-end hotels in China, the increasing number of foreign managers in upscale hotels in China deserved the attention of Chinese academic circles. However, this kind of research can be rarely seen online, especially for the cultural barriers they suffer about work and life in China. The paper focuses on the cultural barriers research and provides some suggestions for foreign managers.
